A rustic Connecticut engagement shoot with Heidi & Scott

Whenever possible, I love the opportunity to bring the engagement story into the engagement shoot. It adds another layer of meaning when we can be at special place or incorporate things that are unique to a couple. In this case, we had to include the Vespa that Scott gifted Heidi the same day he proposed. A teal Vespa had been on the top of Heidi's wish list for years – ever since she lived across from a Vespa store. Scott likes to say that the Vespa was the other carat. And when they were tallying up their list of important things, the couple's rescue dog Homer topped the list. So of course, he had to make an appearance. I enlisted my favorite stylist Amy Azzarito fromDesign*Sponge to bring along some cool props and help me style the whole shoot. She brought along paper props by Michelle Bablo and the perfect dress from one of my favorite bridal shops, Lovely. We met, bride, groom, Vespa, bike and dog at the Nathan Hale Homestead. The trees didn't seem to realize that it was already April, but even though there wasn't a leaf in sight, the red barn, setting sun and open meadow made up for it.
